History of the Electric Car Club


The Methacton Electric Car Club (MECC) was created in 2002 when John Murphy, a local business man, decided to donate his electric car that he had built himself. Since then, the club has been working smoothly under the supervision of Steve Savitz and Perry Del Rossi, two biology teachers at Methacton. Christened the "Lorax," the car won numerous times at the "Tour de Sol" race for alternative energy vehicles. The Lorax has also had a few publicity shots as well. The Lorax was featured on the History Channel and a TV series called "Cool Fuel" on channel 57. Many news channels have also broadcasted our success. It began as and continues to be an example of how positive relationships can be formed when a community comes together.
