Battery Replacement ProjectLast year's Race for the 21st Century was a big success for us, but unfortunately one of our 17 batteries didn't make it. After giving it the respectful "burial" it deserved, we began our search for new batteries for a replacement battery pack. At the start of 2007-08 school year, the Methacton Electric Car Club members came together with one thing in mind: To get the Lorax up and running again. After extensive research, MECC finally came up with a new set of batteries by Deca. Currently the Lorax is being stripped of its old batteries. As we put the new batteries in, we are also rewiring the car, and we have shipped our controller to the manufacturer to be reprogrammed for 144 volts. Though the new battery pack won't get the range of the old one, we still hope to be successful. Check back for more updates! |
